Maple Leaf Coasters - A Touch of Autumn at Home
It finally feels like Fall in Los Angeles! A fog settled in over the Marina this morning, and the forecast calls for drizzle today and tomorrow. It's time to add more touches of fall around the house. So I've been experimenting with a new brand of paints (well new to me anyway) and I'm excited to share this coaster tutorial. I've read a lot about painting coasters and how they don't hold up well to hot drinks. So after a lot of trial and error I think I've found a solution. These Pebeo paints are super versatile, and come in brilliant colors! The possibilities for crafting with these are endless. So here is my first charming project with this medium - Fall inspired maple leaf coasters!
Supplies: Pebeo paints (red and orange), round cork coasters, round sponge brush, varathane polyurethane spray, and a maple leaf cut-out or any fall stencil of your choice.
Make a maple leaf stencil, and lay it over the coaster, and dab the paint over the coaster using a round sponge brush. Make sure you use and up and down motion to keep the paint from spreading under your stencil.
Spray a thin layer of the polyurethane spray over your coaster and let it dry according to instructions. This will allow you to place hot or cold items on the coaster without any issues.
I'll be using these paints in lots more projects to come so stay tuned. Meanwhile, enjoy a little taste of fall in your mugs and make some of these easy, DIY, fall inspired coasters!
