While on vacation in Alaska (see pics here if you missed them) I was lucky enough to stay near a beach and collected beautiful sea shells, pebbles and driftwood to my hearts content! I'm currently living in Los Angeles so driftwood and intact seashells are completely non-existent and only available at craft stores so this was a real treat for me!

Before my house turns into Fall fiasco crafting central, I want to get in a couple more home decor projects that work all year. I project looks charming any time of year in a bathroom or spa area. It's a little on the whimsical side, and I love the way the candle reveals the 'mother of pearl' once it's been lit.

Supplies: candle wicks, essential oil fragrance, blue crayon, candle wax, hemp rope, sea shell, driftwood, white aquarium pebble.

To make the driftwood stand for you shell use the hemp rope to tie them together using a simple knot.

Use the same knot to tie all pieces together, and when you get to the last piece of wood make a double knot so the whole thing holds tight.

Melt your candle wax in in a pan at low heat. It may smoke a little but it will melt quickly. Then break off a piece of crayon and mix it into the wax. I used a spoon, then decided a whisk worked better. The crayon color appears to separate but it will dry into one uniform blue color.

Place the stone and wick in the sea shell, and you will need to hold the wick so that it doesn't fall over before pouring the wax.

Carefully pour the hot wax into the shell. And add 10 drops (or more - your preference) of fragrant oil. I went with a Vanilla scent. It only takes 5 minutes to set completely.

Place your candles on the driftwood stand.

Watch your "pearl" appear!
